VedicHour is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data. By using our Service, you consent to the practices described herein.

2. Information We Collect

Account & Contact: Email address, name (optional). Birth Data: Date, time, and place of birth — used solely to generate your astrological report. Location: Current city for calculating hora and choghadiya timing. Payment: We do not store payment details. All processing is handled by our payment partner Ziina, which is PCI-DSS compliant. We receive only a transaction confirmation and email. Usage Data: IP address, browser type, pages visited — collected automatically via standard analytics.

3. How We Use Your Information

Service Delivery: To generate and deliver your astrological report. Account Management: Order confirmations, report delivery, and customer support. Service Improvement: Aggregated, anonymized usage data. We do not use individual birth data for any purpose other than your specific report. Communication: Transactional emails only. No unsolicited marketing without explicit consent.

4. Data Sharing & Sub-processors

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only with the following sub-processors, all bound by data processing agreements: Infrastructure & hosting: • Vercel — application hosting, edge functions, and CDN. • Supabase — managed Postgres database, authentication, and file storage. • Upstash — Redis-backed rate limiting and queue locks. • Inngest — durable background job execution for report generation. Payments: • Ziina — PCI-DSS-compliant payment processor (we do not store card details). AI Providers: • Anthropic (Claude) — primary LLM for narrative report text. • OpenAI — fallback LLM when Anthropic is unavailable. • Google (Gemini) — fallback LLM and text-embedding model for the scripture retrieval (RAG) layer. Observability (when configured): • Sentry — server/client error tracking. • PostHog — product analytics (anonymized). Legal Requirements: If required by law or court order.

5. AI Transparency

Astronomical calculations (planetary positions, dasha periods, hora, and choghadiya timing) are deterministic and computed using the Swiss Ephemeris library with the Lahiri Ayanamsa. These calculations are not AI-generated. Narrative interpretations and commentary in your report are generated by Claude (Anthropic), with OpenAI or Google Gemini used as automatic fallbacks when the primary model is unavailable, from human-reviewed prompt templates. These AI providers process the birth data solely to generate your report and do not use it for model training.

6. Data Retention

Birth & Report Data: 24 months after your last report, then securely deleted on request. Payment Records: 7 years (UAE commercial law). Support Communications: 12 months. Analytics: Anonymized, up to 36 months.

7. Your Rights

You may request: access to your data, correction of inaccuracies, deletion ("right to be forgotten"), data portability, and withdrawal of consent. Email privacy@vedichour.com. We respond within 30 days.

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies (authentication, sessions, currency preference) and optional analytics cookies. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies. You may disable analytics cookies via browser settings.

9. Security

We use TLS/HTTPS encryption in transit, encrypted storage, and strict access controls. No internet transmission is 100% secure, but we follow industry best practices.

10. International Transfers

Your data may be processed by service providers in the US and EU. We ensure appropriate safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses where required.

11. Children

Our Service is not for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. Contact privacy@vedichour.com if you believe we have.

We will notify you of significant changes via website notice or email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
